    At times it is unavoidable that Network Rail engineering works may affect some of our services, meaning alterations to the scheduled timetables. Arriva Trains Wales and Network Rail apologise for any inconvenience that these temporary alternations may cause.

    We advise passengers intending to travel to enquire before starting their journey for full details of altered trains, onward connections and additional road transport. Details of alterations may be obtained from your local travel office or by contacting National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950.

    It is regretted that dogs (except guide dogs), cycles, prams and large items of luggage cannot be conveyed on replacement road coach services.

The following train alterations will apply:

Monday to Thursday

  • 20:09 Birmingham International to Aberystwyth will be replaced by a bus between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth. 
  • 22:21 Cardiff Central to Coryton will not run.
  • 22:45 Coryton to Cardiff Central will not run.
  • 22:53 Aberystwyth to Machynlleth will be replaced by a bus throughout.
  • 23:14 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will be diverted and will be unable to call at Newton-le-Willows, Earlestown, Warrington Bank Quay, Runcorn East, Frodsham and Helsby. Passengers for these stations are advised to travel on the replacement bus service. 
  • 23:22 Chester to Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted and will be unable to call at Helsby, Frodsham, Runcorn East, Warrington Bank Quay, Earlestown and Newton-le-Willows. Passengers for these stations are advised to travel on the replacement bus service.   

From 22:30 each night:

No trains will run between Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Bay.

From 23:00 each night:

Buses replace trains between Radyr and Cardiff Central and between Cardiff Central and Ystrad Mynach.

Tuesday to Friday

  • 04:35 Machynlleth to Aberystwyth will be replaced by a bus throughout.
  • 05:14 Aberystwyth to Birmingham International will be replaced by a bus between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth.
  • 05:26 Cardiff Central to Merthyr Tydfil will be retimed to leave at the later time of 05:42.
  • 06:38 Merthyr Tydfil to Bridgend will be retimed to leave at the later time of 06:42.

London Midland

Saturday

Buses will run between:

  • Wolverhampton and Stafford 
  • Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street

Until 12:00 trains from Birmingham New Street to Liverpool Lime Street will run between Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street only. After 12:00trains from Birmingham New Street to Crewe / Liverpool Lime Street will not run. 

Until 13:15 trains from Liverpool Lime Street to Birmingham New Street will run between Liverpool Lime Street and Crewe only. Trains from Crewe to Birmingham New Street will not run.

13:34 Liverpool Lime Street to Birmingham New Street will be retimed to run earlier and terminate at Crewe.

After 14:00 trains from Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe / Birmingham New Street will not run. 

Sunday

Buses replace trains between:

  • Wolverhampton and Crewe
  • Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street

Trains between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street will not run.

  • 10:37 Crewe to Stafford bus replaces train between Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford 
  • 11:44 Stafford to Crewe bus replaces train between Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent

Monday

Buses replace trains between:

  • Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton

Buses will run between:

  • Birmingham New Street and Stafford

Trains between Birmingham New Street and Crewe / Liverpool Lime Street will run between Stafford / Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street only.

  • 22:35 Manchester Piccadilly to Shrewsbury will be diverted and will be unable to call at Stockport, Wilmslow, Crewe, Nantwich, Wrenbury, Whitchurch, Press, Wem or Yorton. Customers for these stations are advised to travel on the replacement road transport from Stockport to Shrewsbury.  
  • 22:55 Birmingham New Street to Holyhead will terminate at Crewe. Customers are advised to travel on the earlier 23:35 replacement road transport from Crewe to Chester to connect into the additional 00:40 Chester to Holyhead service.
  • 23:23 Crewe to Chester will be replaced by a bus throughout.    
  • 04:23 Chester to Birmingham New Street will be replaced by a bus between Chester and Crewe. The bus leaves Chester at the earlier time of 03:50.
  • 04:55 Chester to Crewe will be replaced by a bus throughout.

 

Tuesday to Friday

  • 04:35 Cardiff Central to Manchester Piccadilly will be retimed to depart at the earlier time of 04:20.
