Rail Upgrade Work affecting services that run between Cardiff - Newport and Ebbw Vale

• Saturday 23 September until Sunday 29 Oct

Network Rail will be upgrading the railway between Cardiff and Newport to prepare the railway for new, electric trains between London and Cardiff.

During these periods, in the South Wales  area there will be

• Retiming of services
• Reduction in service frequencies
• Services starting and terminating at Newport
• Platform changes at Cardiff Central
• Rail replacement bus services between Cardiff Central and Newport (mainly on Sundays)

Services affected across South Wales:

• Cardiff Central –Holyhead (ATW)
• Milford Haven – Manchester Piccadilly (ATW)
• Maesteg – Cheltenham Spa (ATW)
• Cardiff Central – Ebbw Vale Town
• Cardiff Central – Nottingham (Cross Country)
• Swansea – London Paddington (GWR)*
• Cardiff Central – Portsmouth Harbour (GWR)*
• Cardiff Central – Taunton / Plymouth (GWR)*

*GWR weekend services between Cardiff–Bristol and Cardiff–London will be affected further by Severn Tunnel and Bristol Parkway improvement work (until Sunday 29 October). Diversions or rail replacement bus services will be in place.
